Tonya Loving, DDS and Danette Hamilton, RDH, MHA are experienced dental professionals collectively providing over 70 years of insight as a dentist, dentist-owner, franchise owner, dental hygienist, dental consultant, and dental broker. When Danette joined Tonya’s practice in 1999, it was the beginning of a unique working relationship and personal friendship. Today, Tonya and Danette partner as Dentistry Reinvented, assisting dental practices with growth and development.
Tonya Loving, DDS
Dr. Loving is one of the few dental consultants in the nation who has owned and operated a multi-million dollar dental practice. Therefore, she understands the intricate and numerous requirements of operating a successful dental practice. Dr. Loving is unique in her ability to provide hands-on clinical training for the doctors and hygiene team.
Dr. Loving is a native of the Pacific NW, growing up in Shelton, Washington. She moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington, earning her Bachelor of Arts in English degree in 1991. She then attended the UW School of Dentistry, graduating with honors in 1995.
Initially working as an associate in a local, multi-doctor practice, she decided to become a solo practitioner in the Seattle suburb of Issaquah, Washington. She purchased a four chair practice, and within five years expanded to maximum capacity at that office and increased production to nearly five times of when initially purchased. Her next endeavor (with her husband’s immense patience, direction, and support) was the building of her dream office - having 3,500 square feet, seven operatories, fifteen staff members, and over 3000 active patients. She passionately enjoyed 17 years as a practicing dentist, before selling her practice "Loving Dentistry" at the end of 2011. Her practice model was so successful, her office achieved being in the top 1% of all dental offices in the nation in her last 5 years of practicing. Her hygiene department just by itself consistently produced over one million dollars per year.
While she was always inspired to work with her amazing team and incredible patients, she felt the need to gain balance in her personal life, and change her pace and professional commitments. So at the end of 2012, she stepped away from actively practicing dentistry in order to start Loving Dental Solutions to help colleagues manage the enormous facets of operating a quality and successful dental practice. This is especially true as the dental profession is in a state of flux. Dentistry now operates with drastic and unfavorable changes in insurance benefits, global and local economics, and patient behavior. However, these conditions are offset by changing the way we practice and often embracing new technologies and systems. To stay competitive, today’s dental practices must create a solid foundation for growth and success.
Dr. Loving’s interests include reading, participating in a book club, volunteering at her two children’s schools and for charitable causes, spending time with her family, and accomplishing home projects with her husband.
Danette Hamilton, RDH, MHA
Danette Hamilton understands the complex forces transforming today’s dental marketplace. Her experience as a dental hygiene clinician, practice growth consultant, dental practice broker, medical clinic manager and hygiene school educator cultivated her unique perspective. She studied dental hygiene at the University of Pittsburgh prior to pursuing her Master of Health Administration degree at the University of Washington in Seattle. She designed her consulting business, Synchronized Dental Systems, to incorporate her innovative approach to operating dental clinics and practices.
Danette practiced chairside dental hygiene at some of the largest and most progressive dental practices in Seattle and the Eastside. She also observed different practice models when providing temporary hygiene services in over 50 general and periodontal dental practices and served the elderly with Mobile-Dent in nursing homes. She acted as the lead dental hygienist for Loving Dentistry directing the hygiene team to consistently provide over $1 million in hygiene production per year.
Her clinic administration knowledge and dental hygiene expertise inspired Danette to create a unique periodontal management “hands on” coaching curriculum. Danette effectively instructs hygienists how to specialize in periodontal hygiene cases while ethically increasing hygiene and restorative production. The program empowers the complete dental team with practical skills that generate practice growth. Danette presents “The Business of Dentistry” curriculum to dental hygiene students at the local programs.
Danette gained dental brokering experience with AFTCO, the largest dental practice brokerage in the United States. She currently assists new buyers with due diligence and transition consulting that highlights the risks in practice purchases and then positions the practice for growth. Her pre-retirement and pre-transition conditioning services maximize the value of the practice which gives the seller more options and leverage when selling.
Danette focuses on enabling today’s dentist to achieve lifestyle balance while operating fulfilling and profitable dental practices. She provides solutions to dentists that manage risk, stress, work flexibility and personal freedom. The changing field of dentistry requires that dentists approach practicing differently.
Danette and her husband live in Issaquah, Washington. They enjoy hiking and sailing in the Puget Sound and Canadian waters. Their 3 daughters enjoy careers in business management, dentistry and advanced nursing practices.
